VIDEO: Garbage Truck Driver Dumps Flaming Trash at Chula Vista Fire Station

The driver of a Chula Vista trash truck noticed his load had caught flames and called 911 dispatchers Thursday, who advised him to drive to a nearby fire station and drop the flaming load off, according to the Chula Vista Fire Department. Firefighters ran out of the Chula Vista Fire Department Station 7 and doused the pile of burning trash with water.

Tuolumne County Fire Chief Andrew Murphy Retiring

Tuolumne County is bidding farewell to an influential local fire leader. The board of supervisors this week gave a Certificate of Appreciation to Andrew Murphy for his decades of work in the fire service, including the most recent four in Tuolumne County, serving as the Assistant Chief of the Tuolumne County Fire Department, along with same role with the Groveland Community Services District Fire Department and CAL Fire Tuolumne-Calaveras Unit.

Rocklin volunteer firefighter retires after 60 years in the fire service

The Rocklin Fire Department celebrated the retirement of one of their volunteer firefighters after 60 years in the fire service. Volunteer Assistant Chief Lee “Smokey” Browning devoted 60 years of his life to the fire service and 54 of those years with the Rocklin Fire Department after joining it in 1968.

Firefighters Protect Homes From Grass Fire Burning Near Sylmar Neighborhood In Los Angeles

VIDEO: Firefighters protected homes Thursday from a grass fire that cast smoke over the northern San Fernando Valley. Details about how the fire estimated at about 25 acres started in a field near the 5 and 405 freeways were not immediately available. The fire broke out in the 15000 block of West Lakeside Street on a day of above normal temperatures.

Clovis Emergency Personnel Compete in Battle of the Badges

The Clovis Police and Fire Departments participate in the Central California Blood Center’s Battle of the Badges Blood Drive. Typically an annual event, the Battle of the Badges was canceled during the past two years because of the pandemic. The event held during the month of June, has a goal of using law enforcement to help bring more people to make blood donations in hopes of saving someone’s life that may need it.

Brush Fire Injures 2, Evacuation Orders Lifted in Pleasanton, Sunol

Two people were injured in a brush fire burning on the Pleasanton Ridge Thursday afternoon, firefighters said. Flames were first reported at the 4500 block of River Rock Hill Road around 2 p.m. Evacuation orders are in place for anyone in the area of Golden Eagle, police said. The Alameda County Fire Department also ordered mandatory evacuations for residents in the area of Kilkare Road in Sunol.
